The Town of Willsboro is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Town Accountant. This role is responsible for performing professional accounting duties related to municipal financial transactions, payroll procedures, accounting systems, and financial reporting.


The Town Accountant works under the general direction of the Town Supervisor and plays an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the Town’s fiscal operations.


Key responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining the Town’s general ledger and governmental fund accounting

  • Preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports

  • Processing and overseeing accounts payable and payroll operations

  • Maintaining revenue and cash receipting procedures

  • Performing bank reconciliations and assisting with financial reporting and compliance

  • Supporting grant, contract, and capital project accounting


Applicants should have knowledge of governmental accounting practices, public financial administration, and strong organizational and analytical skills.
